Around 1000 years ago Mugwort was used in brewing a beer called ‘gruit’. It is believed it got its name due to the ale being served in a mug. (Wort is the old English word for herb.) Mugwort is commonly used to relieve muscle pain and digestive disorders such as stomach acidity, indigestion, bowel and stomach pain and travel sickness. It can also ease menstrual difficulties such as PMT, cramping, irregularity and weak menstrual flow. It can also be useful during menopause.
