Spearmint
Believed to be the oldest of the mints, Spearmint is most commonly used as a breath-freshening agent in toothpaste and as a digestive aid often served after meals as a herbal tea. Traditionally it has been used to enhance mental clarity and focus and here’s some evidence that it may help improve memory. It also has antibacterial and antimicrobial properties and is high in antioxidants and vitamin C. It may also help promote relaxation and reduce stress, lower blood pressure and balance hormones in women, decreasing hormones like testosterone while increasing hormones necessary for ovulation.
