Welcome to May: Growing and chopping and never stopping!

Waking and weeding

Cutting and storing

Mowing and growing

Snoozing and snoring

Repeat 100 times and that’s May taken care of.....

It’s such a beautiful month with the blossom, new growth and wildlife.
I think this is a common feeling and I’ve made the classic mistake of being over ambitious in my planting.
I have lots of seedlings in cells that are too delicate to plant out, so I need to replant and bring them on a bit further, to harden off before they go into the beds. Chamomile, Melissa, St John’s Wort, Echinacea, Sage, etc…
Dodgy planning on my side here.

However, biodynamically, the moon is waning and descending so it’s a great time to plant seedlings out and get their root systems developing into the earth.
(I must start thinking of applying preparation 501 next month too).

Our ride-on mower keeps breaking down (it’s a spring thing) so we now have a mosaic pattern developing, within lawn and meadow areas, of differing length that resemble a methodically planned cubist installation.

We have an inspection looming from Demeter too so I need to get all the paperwork in order. That will probably take place between midnight and 2am some time this coming week!

Our clinic and shop in Exmouth Market and clinic in Muswell Hill are doing well and keeping us very busy.
I always have lovely patients and customers, so it’s such a pleasure trying to help them. It's tricky planning and growing herbs to meet the demands for the products and clinic but we love it, and are far more organised this year – in a very chaotic, organised kind of way. Take a look at the difference.

Nettles for our solid shampoo, Nettle and Comfrey Biodynamic oil and balms.
Calendula for numerous balms and oils.

Our essential herbs, Calendula , Chamomile, Rose, Peppermint, Melissa, St Johns Wort, Plantain, Comfrey, Cleavers, Nettles, Elder , California Poppy , Thyme, Gotu Kola and Dandelions are coming along wonderfully.
Fingers crossed.
